L’ESSENZIALE

L’ESSENZIALE emerged after a period of letting go — at a moment when the external had already begun to lose its weight and perception was quietly rearranging itself. As the excess receded, no emptiness was revealed. Instead, a fullness became visible that required nothing further to complete it. It had long been present, yet had become almost imperceptible beneath the continual presence of more. From this experience, the work developed intuitively. A largely untouched surface surrounds a small, concentrated formation of pearls. Its presence does not arise from scale or quantity, but from concentration. The singular gains weight because nothing competes with it. The open space should therefore not be understood as absence. It is a condition of perception. It allows what is essential to emerge without being staged. L’ESSENZIALE speaks neither of asceticism nor of renunciation. Rather, the work describes a transformation of perception: away from the idea that fullness is created through addition, and toward the recognition that it may already be present. What had previously remained concealed beneath excess is given space. And with that space comes clarity. Fullness did not need to be created.
